Learned Some Arabic

Today, I was teaching letter sounds in a small group of 3 year olds. We were sitting on floor all gathered around a pocket puppet chart and I was picking up different animals and saying their names emphasizing the first letter sounds as I placed them in the correct pocket. After filling several pockets, I picked up a lion and said, "La la LION... la la la la la." The kids who had been joyfully playing along and holding different puppet animals all dropped their puppets, stopped what they were doing, and looked at me like I was disciplining them. In confusion, I looked back to the other teacher in the room who was laughing at me.

"La" means "No" in Arabic.
